Description
This wonderful old Japanese cloth was designed for a variety of functions and would have been equally suited for use as a dish or hand towel (tenugui) or as a head-wrap (hachimaki) for workers, home makers or even those on their way to a Japanese festival. The rough cotton weave is printed with an attractive Japanese design and has never been used despite its age. This item dates from the mid Japanese Showa period (1926-1989) and is in excellent condition though the fabric is a bit darkened with age.
